The Dhandho Investor: The Low-Risk Value Method to High Returns by Mohnish Pabrai
I bought this book after I came across many videos from USA and Europe recommending it as one of the finest books on investing and business.
I thought, ‘well, that’s interesting’.
I have hardly come across any book on business/finance authored by an Indian, being recommended by so many western financial experts. So, pretty soon, I ordered the book on Amazon.in and read it. True to its reputation, this unputdownable book, with very prudent yet with meaningful new insights has opened a new vista into making money from both business and stock investing. I mean, I have been a stock investor from a very young age (I was 19 when I started in 2005) but even after 14 years, this book can add so much of new insights to my understanding of the financial world.
By mid-2000s, the Patel community owned over than $40 billion in motel assets in the United States! How did they do it?
The book focuses on the business skills of Gujaratis (on Patels, basically) who in 1970s had arrived in the USA with no capital and no English speaking skills, to eventually end up controlling the entire motel industry of the US. By mid-2000s, the Patel community owned over than $40 billion in motel assets in the States! How did they do it? For that, you’d have to read this book; because Dhandho is the only way they could do this unimaginable feat.
